How XOXO become popular?

Michelle explained what is XOXO to me as well as why especially girls love to use "XOXO". XOXO was actually being popularized from a movie called,"Gossip Girl" where "XOXO" were kept repeated by the girls in the movie from the beginning to the end. No wonder why girls like to fancy with it at the same time makes "XOXO" popular-wide-spread/infected even there is a shop named after "XOXO". Not only that, celebrities also sign XOXO to their fans

Well, to know what XOXO means, we have to identify it respectively. We say 'cross' when we see the symbol "X" and so we know that X is cross which relates to the Christianity as the cross is the symbol for the Christians. Long time ago, an X at the end of a letter or document was often kissed as a seal of honesty, in much the same way person would kiss a Bible or kiss the fingers after making the sign of the Christian cross. Thus the X came to represent a kiss in modern times. Now I understand why the emoticons of kiss is typed :-X

O means...

Hugs. When we hug someone, our arms are around them and theirs around us therefore it's like a circle. Though it is not the best explaination, perhaps it can describe O as hugs as it is widely speculated of the fact.
